Dave’s Backyard Ale
If I designed a beer for my old man, it would probably look something like this..
‘Dave’s Backyard Ale’ is inspired by a handful of core memories from my youth, primarily surrounding my Dad mowing the lawn on a Saturday morning with the cricket humming away on his AM radio.
It was probably just one of the many ways he sought to live out this ethos of how rewarding hard work can be; something he still does to this day & that I’ve only come to appreciate more as the years have gone by.
Drawing on elements of vintage Aussie beer labels & a palette / type paring that feels deeply patriotic, the brand is essentially an extension of the man himself; tapping into that satisfying feeling of knocking back a cold one after getting your hands dirty on a summer’s day.
Whenever we design a brand at Blank Slate, the user experience is always at the forefront of our minds. ‘Would I personally want to interact with this visual identity? Does it communicate something I want to be a part of? Is it telling a story I want to hear?’
Well, I feel like this one definitely ticks those boxes a few times over..
As Dad would say, ‘Go you good thing!’
